An illuminated sign works twice as hard as an unlit one — during the day it's your signage, and after dark it's the only thing on the street doing any advertising at all. We build three main styles: halo-lit, where light spills out from behind the letters onto the wall for a soft glow; face-lit, where the letter face itself glows for maximum punch; and back-lit panels, where an even wash of light sits behind a whole fascia or push-through acrylic face. Bootleggers in Kendal is a good example of face-lit done properly — visible from the far end of the street.
Everything's built around IP-rated drivers and daylight sensors so the sign switches itself on at dusk and copes with whatever the weather does, which around here can be a lot in one afternoon. We engineer for wind and water ingress from the start rather than as an afterthought, because a sign that fails after eighteen months in the Lake District rain isn't a saving, it's a call-back. Halo-lit letters, face-lit fascias and back-lit boxes all leave our workshop tested and working before they go anywhere near a van.
